What songs they sang! What melodies,
As tuneful as the vernal breeze
That, filled with birdsong, blesses all,
And lifts from life the chilly pall
Of winter. Ah, to hear again
The sound of youthful innocence,
Each haunting verse and rich refrain
A model of magnificence!
About them swirled the press, like flies,
Yet nonetheless they were inspired
To sing us honest thoughts. The prize?
Why, but to hear their anthems choir'd!
From 'Twist and Shout' to 'Let It Be'
They heaven gave to harmony.
