THE DAY JOHN MET PAUL

As the title suggests, this is the definitive book of Day one of The Beatles. An hour-by-hour account of how the group began. Author Jim 0 Donnell rightly points out that there have been many books written about the success of The Beatles, but never one about what happened when 16 year-old John Lennon met 15 year-old Paul McCartney for the first time at a garden fete on July 6th 1957.

Having only browsed through the book, it would be unfair of me to pass judgment, on how good or bad this book is. Although eight years of research went into it and so many sources used, so every little detail is recalled.

So what do the people who have read the book think of it.

"This book is an extremely good piece of work. I especially liked how Jim 0 Donnell caught both the toughness and the sensitivity of John Lennon, because that combination was essential to his character" says GEOFF RHIND - Beatles Ireland Fan Club member, and former Class-mate of John Lennon. Geoff also took the front—cover photograph of the book.

"The Day John Met Paul is a crucial text to understanding The Beatle story. Extraordinary research, fresh approach, entertaining tone, deep insight….. The writing itself is a kind of music. It belongs on every Beatle bookshelf, large or small, old or young" says RAY COLEMAN — Author, John Lennon The definitive biography.
