Jason Starkey

Second son of Ringo Starr and Maureen Cox. Jason was born at Queen Charlotte’s Hospital in London on 19 August 1967 and it was his mother who chose his name.

With less of a public profile than his older brother, Zak, he became a road manager for a time and then took up drums in the footsteps of his father and brother, although he was not as successful as either.

He was once to comment: ‘Being Ringo’s son is the biggest drag in my life. It’s a total pain.’

In 1987 he was caught stealing a car stereo and fined £125 and in 1989 appeared in court twice on drugs charges.

In 1995 he was playing drums in a pub band.
